Pocket doors are very charming, they are looking a resurgence in popularity lately. These types of doors were very favorite with turn of the nineteenth century builders. They were used to save space and add privacy.

Today these types of doors are used still to save space but are by and large more of a novelty. In older homes these doors were a bit heavy, in newer building the doors are regularly hollow core doors to contribute ease of use.

It is by far easier to install pocket doors for use in closets than it is to retrofit an existing wall for pocket doors. Pro factory to retrofit pocket doors is roughly always warranted unless the do it yourselfer has ample carpentry experience.
